My E-Bikes

I've always loved motorized vehicles. My current toys are e-bikes, built with parts from Amazon.

I currently have two e-bikes.

The white one was the first. With a rear-motor, front & back suspension, wide tires, and low frame (that folds!), it feels a lot like a little mini-bike.   The black one is more of a street bike – with a “hard tail” (no rear spring) and thinner tires, and the motor on the front (giving it both-wheel drive when you pedal).  Both have 1500W, 48V motors (2HP), for top speeds (without pedal-assist) of about 35mph for the black one and a bit less for the white one (although they have a switch to limit them to “street legal” 20mph.)

I have a 3rd motor that’s a little different – 750W and geared rather than direct-drive, which gives it better torque and more power with less mass. It won’t need a switch to limit it to around 20mph, but it will be easier to manage, and to pedal with the motor off – much better for Patti than the other two.

I might even build two of these, so we can ride together more easily (at the same speed), and actually get some exercise in the process. I’ll post more when I get around to that at some point.
