My first post!

A few days ago, I set a goal to have a blog started by May 1st. Did it!

Spring is here in Colorado – it was 78 degrees outside when I started this, and the longer, brighter days crank up my energy a bit, so it seemed like the right time. My previous attempts at giving myself a deadline were for January 1st – a lousy date to start anything, given the stress of the holidays, and all the cold and darkness. But now is a great time, and here it is!

It might look like there’s almost nothing here, but be sure to click on “About me”, and from there, click on the pics in each section to get to their pages. They’re nowhere near complete, but there’s a lot of info there already. My plan is to keep this blog technical. I might mention a little about my day to day life, but it’s not for that. I mostly want a place to write about what I’m doing, and what I’m thinking about.

Lately, I’ve been working on building several new computers, starting with the “MegaBox” – a “PC” with a ($4000!) 64 core (!!!) CPU, 256 Gigabytes of RAM (my laptop has 4GB), and 2TB of incredibly fast (NVMe 4.0 if you care) SSD (solid state drive). I’ve been building PCs for over 35 years now, and have some interesting observations I want to write about.

I also have some potentially great ideas cooking. My best “big idea” right now is a completely new kind of “keyboard”, or more generally, “text entry method”, for use on your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop, that’s better than QWERTY in every way (except user base, of course!)

I have lots of smaller “big ideas” too that I hope to get to eventually. Anyway, if you’ve gotten this far, let me know if what you’ve seen so far has you interested in coming back, and even if not, just say Hi!
